Hearing vs Listening
How many times have you heard the words,
"You're not listening to me!". A hundred, a thousand times? Let's face it, a lot of us think we're good Listeners but how many of us really are? Hearing is easy. It's passive, requires no effort, we do it naturally without even thinking about it.
Listening on the other hand, is an art.
Listening is active, requires intention, focus and discipline. It is a learned activity. Just as with any learned activity, we can learn to be better at it—perhaps even master it!—and learning to become better listeners helps make our lives so much easier! So, how do we become better listeners?
